Family Nurse Practitioner – Board Certified
Born and raised in St. Joseph, Illinois, Shauna’s love for family care spans over 15 years in the hospital setting caring for women and children. What Shauna loves most about her role as a Family Nurse Practitioner is building relationships with patients and the healthcare team members to make sure the patients’ physical and emotional needs are met. Shauna held many leadership roles in her professional career which has included the Clinical Educator for the Childbirth Center, Surgery, Ortho-Neuro and the Supervisor for the Nursing Education Department. She also taught for seven years as a childbirth educator, instructor for the nursing assessment lab and clinicals. If Shauna wasn’t in healthcare, she would most likely have become a teacher. That is partially why she loves nursing, because she loves the ability to teach her patients and getting them involved in their care. She also wouldn’t mind owning her own bakery, her unofficial business is currently known as “Shauna’s Sugar Shop.”
Shauna hopes to bring a friendly smile and an interested, open ear to listen to her patients here at ICPR. She loves caring for families. Shauna feels you get to know so much more about your patients when you are caring for the family unit across a lifespan. Guilty Pleasure | M&M’s – She lived off them while studying in grad school.
Hobbies | Baking – especially cakes. She loves challenging herself to see what she can create.
Proudest Moments | Finishing her first half marathon, 10 minutes under her goal. Second, graduating with her post-Masters FNP Certificate from Mennonite where she received the Outstanding Graduate Achievement Award – based on academic excellence, excellence in nursing practice, effective leadership, compassionate and professional care for patients in collaboration with providers.
